St George Community Housing (SGCH) – Nation Building Project

As part of the Nation Building project, the NSW Government decided to hand over approximately 4,500 dwellings to housing associations.

AHS was appointed to work collaboratively with SGHC on their bid for a share of these dwellings.

Involving the transfer of $400M of assets and the subsequent raising of $200M in debt marked this as the biggest project in Australian community housing history at the time.

Under the project guidelines, a single housing association could a receive a maximum of 25% of the dwellings up for transfer.

In early 2010, SGCH was granted the maximum 25% of the available dwellings.
