Collaborative approach to stock transfer
Following the Commonwealth Games in 2006, the Victorian Government put to tender the transfer of 82 dwellings from the athletes' village.
AHS facilitated the formation of a
consortium between Port Phillip Housing Association, Loddon Mallee Housing
Services and the Disability Housing Trust, which won the tender.
The consortium approach allowed Loddon
Mallee Housing Services to deliver an additional 61 units of housing
across Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong in regional Victoria.
The bid was financially underpinned by the
asset transfer from the Victorian Government to the Port Phillip Housing
Association.
The Disability Housing Trust
purchased nomination rights, which increased the number of homes
created by the project.
Key innovation:
Brokering of partnerships between housing
associations and the establishment of an efficient financing mechanism that
maximised the affordable housing outcomes for the state government.
